ABOUT US:

KIANG NANGBAH GOVERNMENT COLLEGE (KNGC) library was previously known as Jowai Government College Library. This very same library started functioning right from the inception of this college i.e., since the year 1967 and extended its services to the students, faculty and staff. At that time, even though the college was functioning in a rented house, it really has developed an excellent collection of books, journals, magazines, government publications, and other publication sources relating to the courses of study. It has added value to its growth and development as the backbone of any modern educational system. Today KNGC Library is functioning in the college building. It has two sections, one for textbooks and the other for reference. It strives to achieve the relevant sources of information to meet the end-users need and expectation as well as to accomplish the mission statement of its parent organization.

Objective: As a part and parcel of the institution, its main objectives are primarily to serve the educational programme of the college itself. It is only through libraries that the students can be properly prepared to face the challenges of the present information age, in order to cope up with the present educational structure and pressure of competition. Thus, the basic aim of this college library is to provide the relevant sources of information to end-users relating to the instructional programmes to achieve its end result.

As far as information technology is concerned, the library is on the way to automate its collection, and is still at the initial stage which may take some time more to complete the process. Besides other facilities, there is also a provision of computer facilities so that the students can access the internet. Moreover, Reprographic Service is also provided through in house photocopying for the documents available in the library subject to copyright restrictions. In this present era of information needs, it attempts to meet the entire educational needs of the teaching requirements based on the curriculum process of the institutions, as the quality of teaching and learning process depends on the resources and services of the college library activities.
