REPORT OF THE ORIENTATION-CUM-HANDS ON TRAINING PROGRAMME ON “DIFFERENT SERVICES PROVIDED BY NLIST’

The Orientation-cum-Hands on Training Programme on the topic “Different Services provided by NLIST’ for the teaching faculty of the college that was held on the 8th -10th September 2020 in the Computer lab of the College. The programme highlighted on the various pre-requisites for activation of NLIST accounts, different resources provided by NLIST and how to access these resources. All the participants were given hands-on-training on how to search, download and use the resources for their academic needs. The programme was successfully completed and feedback forms were also distributed online after the programme to understand the opinions of the participants and to improve future programmes.  

Report of the Webinar on “the fight against misinformation, empowering citizens in India through news and information literacy”

The Library of the College conducted a webinar in collaboration with Factshala on “the fight against misinformation, empowering citizens in India through news and information literacy” on the 07th January 2021 at 2 pm. Mr Chanlang Ki Bareh, Assistant Librarian of Nagaland University was the resource person for the day. The webinar was conducted using Google Meet and streamed via YouTube Live. There were 57 participants in both the platforms.

The webinar started with the Introductory Speech from the Convener of the webinar, Mr. Brandon Lyttan followed by a Speech from the Principal of the college.

The webinar highlighted on issues related to fake news and misinformation through various media. The resource person also focused on the tools to spot and identify fake news.

There was a discussion at the question and answer session, the participants highlighted on the need for a follow-up physical workshop and hands on training programme to better understand the tools for spotting fake news. The convener passed on the vote of thanks at the end of the programme.
